Background
Richard has over 15 years’ experience specialising exclusively in the field of environmental law and is ranked as a leading environmental lawyer under the category “Environment – South Africa” by Chambers & Partners in their global guide.
Richard commenced his legal career working for law firms in Hong Kong and London. This included leading global firms Chadbourne & Parke and Norton Rose Fulbright where he worked in the Banking & Finance Department on projects advising sovereign entities on international financing transactions in the oil and gas sector.
Richard is a graduate of the University of Cape Town (UCT) where he obtained BSocSci and LLB degrees.
Richard also obtained a Master of Laws Degree (LLM) in Environmental Law with Merit from the University of London where he studied at the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS).
